Scoping Visit for Senior Biology

2 December 2014 / Posted by Janszoon Education

We just returned from a day out near Anchorage with senior biology teachers, Mrs Garmey and Mrs Paxton,  from Motueka High School.

Motueka High is one of our "Adopt a Section" partner schools, and we're quite excited to see them extend the field work at their site to one of the biology courses in the senior school. They are planning to bring students to Anchorage for an NCEA Level 2 assessment in early 2015. The students will be looking for patterns in a biological community, and this scoping visit with the teachers allowed them to identify which patterns are present (and also clear enough for students to be able to identify on their own). We also walked several different locations to pinpoint the best sections of the track for students to complete their data gathering.

We all left feeling excited about what's to come in the new year, and are looking forward to them sharing their work in a class notebook that will be set up for them in the schools section of this site. So stay tuned!
