Fresh Water Monitoring at Hadfield Clearing

Yesterday we were at Hadfield Clearing to do fresh water monitoring.

At school we'd been learning how to use a key to identify species. Going to our site to do an investigation was our chance to try out using a fresh water invertebrate key. We also learnt how to measure flow in a stream, and about how things like plants and light change what lives in the water.

We also found out that there are no records of fresh water monitoring for the stream that crosses through the Hadfield Clearing site. This means that we are the first known people to do fresh water surveys there. We think that's pretty awesome!
